Biography

New York grindcore merchants Skinless were formed in 1992 by vocalist Sherwood Webber and guitarist Noah Carpenter. Undergoing countless line-up changes early on, the band finally stabilized with the arrival of bassist Joe Keyser and drummer Bobby Dulac prior to recording 1998's independently released Progressions Towards Evil debut. The album scored high marks with both fans and critics, and constant touring behind acts like Mortician and Incantation led to a deal with Relapse Records, for whom they recorded their second opus, Foreshadowing our Demise in 2001. By then, the band had begun adding discreet melodies and varied rhythms to their once furiously full-speed assault, and 2003's much improved From Sacrifice to Survival (featuring Origin drummer John Longstreth temporarily stepping in for the sessions while Dulac tied the knot) took this evolution even further.

History:

Skinless is a Brutal death metal band from Troy, New York. The band was formed in founded in 1992 by Ryan Wade and Noah Carpenter. They are known for their consistently intense performances, as well as for their lyrical mix of end-of-the-world cynicism and toilet humor. These lyrical themes are demonstrated in songs such as "The Optimist," about a crumbling human society, and "Tug of War Intestines," which depicts children playing schoolyard games with a surgery patient's internal organs. Recently, in a display of violent misogyny, the band has occasionally brought the "Skinless Girl” on stage and let her be roughed up, covered in fake blood, while the band performed.

Their 1998 debut album, Progression Towards Evil, was an independent release and has garnered them high praise by metal critics They have released four albums, their most recent being Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead in 2006.
